Studying and learning new knowledge and experiences has become one of my life priorities. Thanks to the partnership between Parahyangan Catholic University and TU Dortmund University through ERASMUS+ student exchange program, I could get the opportunity to study abroad in Germany for one semester. Two months has passed yet I already had amazing experiences and life changing moments. First, in regards of the university and my studying life, I am honoured to have such intelligent lectures that give a lot of insights and help me to understand more about International Relations. Most of my classes are seminar class, which consist of small number of students that makes us have to participate actively in the class. I also had 1 block seminar which requires me to give presentations about selected topic in regards to International Security. This experiences has broaden my knowledge as well as my European perspective. I learned how to be critical, creative and analyse academic writings. In my spare time, I usually travel or hang out with my friends. I joined the ERASMUS student group so I made new friends not only from Germany but also from different parts of the world. We had a few trips to get to know our region, Nordrhein Westfalen (NRW) such as a short trip to Düsseldorf, Köln, Bonn and other surrounding cities. Sometimes we also have events to hang out and do barbecue in the park, play some games and also many other beneficial activities. Because Dortmund is famous for the football, I got the chance to watch one of Bundesliga match which was Borussia Dortmund vs FC Köln at the stadium. Another memorable experience is when I could attend European Union Day on 28th May 2016 in Brussels, Belgium. The event was amazing and I got the chance to know European Union better as well as visiting the European Parliament and European Commission. Living a life as an exchange student is one of my memorable experiences in my whole life. Not only because I could enrich my knowledge but also because I can make friends and get to know more about the culture in the country where I live in. For those of you who want to have unforgettable experiences as exchange student, don’t forget to sign up! Everyone has the same opportunity to become an exchange student. Tschüss!
