As part of the final project for the Foreign Policy Analysis course supervised by Angguntari C. Sari, Ph.D., students of the International Relations Program at Parahyangan Catholic University developed concise opinion articles aimed at strengthening their competencies as future international relations analysts and practitioners. The four week project involved drafting, two rounds of revisions, and training in communicating ideas to the broader public through a personalized learning approach oriented toward the publication process.
One of the articles produced by Benediktus Raharja (6092401037), Benedictus Soetopo (6092401047), and Ichlasul Qolbi (6092401148) was successfully published in Koran Pikiran Rakyat under the title “The Dilemma of Indonesia’s Free and Active Foreign Policy in the MDCP Agreement.” The article examines the implications of the Major Defense Cooperation Partnership between Indonesia and the United States for the implementation of Indonesia’s free and active foreign policy principle. It argues that while the defense partnership reflects Indonesia’s active role in maintaining stability in the Indo Pacific region, its implementation must be carefully monitored to ensure that national interests and Indonesia’s diplomatic autonomy remain protected.
