HI UNPAR Attends Coffee Talks with SBY, Discusses Challenges of International Dynamics

Bandung, 24 January 2026 – Several lecturers from the International Relations Study Program of Parahyangan Catholic University (HI UNPAR) attended the Coffee Talks with SBY forum organized by The Yudhoyono Institute. HI UNPAR lecturers in attendance included Drs. Yulius Purwadi Hermawan, M.A., Ph.D.; Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D.; Elisabeth A. S. Dewi, S.IP., M.A., Ph.D.; Ratih Indraswari, S.IP., M.A., Ph.D.; Dr. rer. pol. Albert Triwibowo, S.IP., M.A.; Dr. Stanislaus Risadi Apresian, S.IP., M.A.; and Idil Syawfi, S.IP., M.Si. The forum was also attended by members of parliament, policymakers, youth representatives, and discussion partners from diverse backgrounds.

The discussion highlighted the increasingly complex dynamics of international relations amid escalating global conflicts and the challenges they pose to the international order. A number of strategic issues were addressed, including the post–World Economic Forum (WEF) landscape in Davos, developments surrounding Greenland and the Arctic region, the U.S.-led Board of Peace, the stagnation of the Gaza conflict, and indications of shifting directions in global policy.

The forum featured the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia and Chairman of The Yudhoyono Institute, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and was moderated by Mira Permatasari, Director of The Yudhoyono Institute and an alumnus of HI UNPAR, Class of 2005. The participation of HI UNPAR academics reflects the active contribution of the academic community in responding to global issues through strategic, multi-stakeholder dialogue platforms.

Furthermore, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is also scheduled to be one of the speakers at the International Conference on International Relations (ICON-IR) 2026, which will be held on 20–21 August 2026.
