Bandung, 19 March 2025 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR) and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic relations and enhance international collaboration in higher education. The MoU signing took place on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, attended by the leadership of FISIP UNPAR and the Ambassador of Peru to Indonesia, Mr. Luis Tsuboyama, who also served as a witness to the event.
The signing of this MoU includes a planned collaboration in research and teaching to support the faculty’s tri dharma. Through this partnership, both universities hope to contribute positively to the development of higher education in the global arena.
Dr. Orpha Jane, Dean of FISIP UNPAR, stated, “This MoU represents a strategic step in expanding our academic network at the international level. We hope this collaboration will open new opportunities for FISIP UNPAR lecturers to interact and collaborate with academics in Peru, as well as deepen our understanding of global socio-political challenges.”
The Ambassador of Peru to Indonesia, Mr. Luis Tsuboyama, expressed his pride in the signing of the MoU. “This collaboration reflects the commitment of both universities to building mutually beneficial partnerships in education and research,” he said.
Following the MoU signing, the event continued with a guest lecture by Ambassador Luis Tsuboyama, who discussed an important topic entitled “Global South in Climate Change Diplomacy Engagement Towards the Public.” In his lecture, Ambassador Tsuboyama highlighted climate challenges faced by countries in the Global South, including the significant obstacles developing nations must overcome to address the impacts of climate change.
The guest lecture provided valuable insights for students, particularly in understanding the effects of climate change on developing countries and the international cooperation needed to confront these global challenges.
