PROFILE
Maria Alpha Carmelite, known as Amel, joined the International Relations Study Program as a non-permanent lecturer in 2023. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations in 2015 and her Master’s degree in International Relations in 2019 at Parahyangan Catholic University.
Before becoming a lecturer at HI Unpar, Amel worked for 2.5 years as an Admissions staff member in the Marketing Division at Binus Bandung. In this role, she developed communication and management skills, particularly in coordinating with prospective students, parents, and internal campus parties. In addition, Amel actively mentored the Student Promotion Team with training in public speaking, academic marketing strategies, and event management, helping them carry out their roles as campus ambassadors professionally. She was also involved in managing the official TikTok account of Binus Bandung, designing creative and educational content to expand the campus’s reach on social media.
Before entering the world of higher education, Amel also had experience as a history teacher at Santa Maria 3 High School in Cimahi. In her role as a secondary school educator, Amel developed interactive and discussion-based teaching methods to encourage critical and relevant understanding of history among students. She also guided students in analyzing historical events from various perspectives and linking them to contemporary issues to make learning more contextual and meaningful. This experience enriched her approach to teaching in higher education, where she continues to prioritize dynamic learning methods that emphasize critical thinking.
Amel is interested in issues related to human security, communication and media, and the environment.
