PROFILE
Anggia Valerisha is an assistant professor in the International Relations Study Program at Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) and has been with the university since 2015.
Currently, she is pursuing her PhD at the School of Government and International Relations (SGIR), Griffith University, Australia, with two full scholarships from Griffith University: the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) and the Griffith University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (GUPRS). Her research focuses on violence against women in politics (VAWP), democracy, and digital governance in the Asia and Indo-Pacific regions.
With more than a decade of experience in teaching, research, and community service, Anggia and her colleagues have collaborated with international organizations and ministries/institutions, such as USAID, the British Council, UN Women, Save the Children, Kemitraan, Rikolto, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology/National Research Agency, the Indonesian Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, and the Press Council. Her interests lie in the topics of global media and communication, democracy, gender equality, press freedom, diplomacy, and diaspora. She is the Section Editor for two reputable national journals, SINTA 2 (Journal of International Relations) and SINTA 3 (SENTRIS).
Anggia previously served as Head of the HI Laboratory (2022-2023), Secretary of the Faculty Senate (2024), and member of the UNPAR Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (2022-2024). In 2025, Anggia officially joined as an Affiliate Investigator at The Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence against Women (CEVAW), the world’s first research center addressing violence against women in Australia and the Indo-Pacific region, with a network of six universities in Australia and 45 partner organizations from Australia and internationally. She is committed to researching gender-based violence in politics and democracy, and collaborating with academics and practitioners to develop policy solutions.
